A Message From Calvary's RectorDear Friends,
During the past year, through the generosity of Calvary’s parishioners, we have built on Calvary’s rich history of showing love, by sharing God’s gifts justly and charitably. Community Outreach New efforts, such as the Journey Episcopal Church in Fulton and the Grant Elementary School project, build on the success of Saturday Café, the Food Bank, Room at the Inn, and Loaves and Fishes. The presence of our parishioners at Pride Fest, CROP Walk and the Habitat Blitz Build demonstrated the compassion and support found at Calvary. Worship Our worship is full of the Spirit. Sunday attendance is complimented by Zoom and YouTube broadcasts, monthly services for those living at the Bluffs, and Lay Eucharistic Minister visits to the sick and those who can’t get to church. The Music Ministry’s bell ensemble and choirs not only focus on our own worship services but offer special performances to enrich the lives of the entire community. Building for Tomorrow Calvary’s collaborative youth efforts with St. Andrews Lutheran Church are taking shape under the new name: ELFY. Children’s Chapel and a children’s fellowship hour were rebooted this year and we are now seeing new acolytes. Campus ministry efforts, with Episcopal Lutheran Campus Ministry, are now seeing several dozen students and volunteers meeting regularly for Bible study, prayer and dinner. Inclusive and affirming contact with students at Mizzou, Stephens and Columbia colleges make it clear that Calvary welcomes all of God’s children. Open Hearts and Open Doors Recognizing that God does not entrust a gift to a steward for the steward’s exclusive use, our annual stewardship period begins with a personal request that you reflect on the gifts you have received and consider how God is calling you to share your time, talents and treasure. Faithfully, Rev. Ann Dieterle |
